Karl Braun
Karl Braun serves as Vice President of Clark Bros Inc., having previously held the roles of Director of Estimating and Senior Estimator since joining the company in 2019. In his current role as VP, Karl oversees all commercial operations for the company. He is responsible for driving growth strategy, expanding market presence, cultivating key client and partner relationships, and leading the pursuit and development of new project opportunities across the company’s diverse markets. He works closely with all senior leadership members to identify emerging opportunities, strengthen competitive positioning, and support long-term growth objectives.
As Vice President, Karl provides direction for the project acquisition and preconstruction lifecycle. This includes leading and aligning multidisciplinary teams responsible for business development, market strategy, sales, estimating and pricing, proposal development, contract negotiation and management, preconstruction, engineering solutions, commercial risk management, and project startup and execution.
His leadership helps position CBI for success across Public Works Water and Wastewater Infrastructure; Renewable Energy Civil Subcontracting; Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects in solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS); and High-Voltage Transmission and Power Infrastructure.
Karl holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Marquette University and has more than 28 years of experience in heavy civil construction. Prior to joining CBI, Karl progressively advanced in field engineering and project management positions while leading complex civil construction projects across 12 states. Karl’s broad expertise encompasses commercial strategy, project development and management, contract management, cost control, bid analysis, scheduling, safety, field operations, quality assurance, and large-scale infrastructure planning and execution. His technical expertise includes earthwork and excavation, bridge and foundation construction, concrete and structural steel systems, drainage and utility infrastructure, marine construction, renewable energy facilities, high-voltage power infrastructure, large-scale demolition, and site development.
Karl’s ability to combine technical knowledge with operational experience and commercial strategy provides him with a unique perspective that bridges project execution and commercial leadership. He has been instrumental in helping CBI to expand its capabilities and to successfully pursue increasingly complex and transformative projects. His focus on integration has strengthened CBI’s ability to secure and to successfully deliver complex infrastructure and energy projects. As a result, he has played a significant role in CBI’s growth, helping generate more than 300% expansion since joining the company.
