The CBI team is proud to share progress from the Luna Valley Solar Site in Mendota, California, one of our latest renewable energy projects bringing sustainable power to the state.

When our crews first arrived, the site was unrecognizable — tall grass, wildlife, and untouched terrain. Since then, the transformation has been remarkable. To date, the team has successfully completed a substation and two laydown yards, key milestones in the site’s development.

The process begins with a detailed review of plans and a full site survey. Once staked, our crews remove approximately six inches of topsoil and process the material beneath. After compaction testing and approval, base rock is laid to establish a durable foundation for ongoing construction.

Conditions at Luna Valley can be tough — dusty air, limited visibility, and rugged terrain — but our team meets every challenge head-on. Safety is at the forefront of every decision, reinforced through daily briefings and strong communication between operators and field crews. As one of our site leads shared, “Out here, you need grit. Safety, quality, and then production. You’ve got to build that bond with your crew — once that bond is built, anything is possible.”

Through hard work, teamwork, and a shared commitment to excellence, CBI is proud to be turning this once-overgrown field into a cornerstone of renewable energy. The Luna Valley Solar Site is a testament to what can be achieved when dedication and collaboration power every step forward.
